COVID-19 Update for Courts in Tarrant County, Texas (Updated May 20, 2021)

Highly recommend! Colin thank you so much for your dedication. Thank you for actually wanting to sincerely help and give us the best outcome we can get. You are by far one of the best. You helped my bf reschedule a court date after it was missed and was able to give him the same plea deal. Thank you again Colin.

Absolutely wonderful! Collin was fantastic. He really fought for me and I am very happy with the outcome of my case. He really fought for my case to have a positive outcome and was supportive, easy to get ahold of when needed and walked me through everything. I would definitely recommend him to anyone and everyone!!

I would highly recommend Hoeller McLaughlin. They helped my husband on a probation violation case and did an excellent job. Dustin Trammel was our attorney and he communicated with us and was supportive and helpful throughout the process. Very good legal service and would recommend this firm.

Colin by far has been one of the BEST attorneys in Ft. Worth. His dedication and attentiveness really shows not only in court but with the client and family. Great communication, easy web portal and friendly staff. 5 stars are NOT enough. Thank you Colin

I can not say enough about how grateful I am that Dustin Trammel was my attorney! Having no experience with court proceedings, Dustin explained everything and stayed in touch with me the entire time. I couldn’t have asked for a better attorney! Very highly recommend!!

May 23, 2021 COVID-19 Court Update:

Most courts have opened back up completely for in-person court settings.  We have been in court for in-person settings.  Social distancing is still required.  Dockets have been much smaller in size to limit any potential exposure.  Some courts are still doing virtual settings, so please check with your attorney to see if your setting is virtual or in-person.  In addition, a few courts have started conducting jury trials.

With it constantly changing, please check to see what the status is on your pending case.

Our team of Colleyville & Fort Worth criminal defense attorneys and DWI lawyers at Hoeller McLaughlin PLLC are still helping clients and potential clients in need of an experienced defense attorney. We have been conducting consultations and client meetings on the phone or over virtual teleconference.  We are also conducting in-person consults and client meetings by appointment only at our Colleyville office (please call to schedule an appointment).  In addition, our office is adhering to any of the Governor’s Executive Orders – Thank you!.

April 5, 2021 COVID-19 Court Update:

Many courts have opened back up for in-person settings.  We have been in court the past week for in-person settings.  Masks and social distancing is required.  Dockets are much smaller in size to limit exposure.  Some courts are still doing virtual settings.  Clients in jail will still have their hearings conducted via Zoom.  Jury trials are still not approved at this time due to social distancing restrictions.

With it constantly changing, please check to see whether your court setting is an in-person or virtual Zoom hearing.

March 19, 2021 COVID-19 Court Update:

Now that Governor Abbot has dropped the mask mandate, we wanted to give everyone an update on where things stand on the criminal court front.  Some felony and misdemeanor court settings are still doing virtual settings, but many courts are also opening back up for in-person settings as well to try and get caught up on their docket.  Many courts will be doing “inventory” dockets to see if a deal can be reached (“get their best offer”).  Jury trials are still not approved at this time.

With it constantly changing, please check to see whether your court setting is an in-person or virtual Zoom hearing.

March 11, 2021 COVID-19 Court Update:

Now that Governor Abbot has dropped the mask mandate, we wanted to give everyone an update on where things stand on the criminal court front.  As of now, with limited exception, felony and misdemeanor court settings are still virtual. The court administrators have been meeting and discussing a re-opening up plan, which would include getting back into the courtroom for in-person court settings, probation hearings, and jury trials.  There are still social distancing measures in place and restrictions set by the Supreme Court of Texas, so none of these plans have been finalized yet and we have not been given a date for when to expect that to happen.  With more and more individuals getting vaccinated, we are hopeful by the summer, we can start getting back to normal court settings (or more normal).

With it constantly changing, please check to see whether your court setting is an in-person or virtual Zoom hearing (some courts are even allowing for call-in or attorney appearances during this time period).

January 14, 2021 COVID-19 Update:

Felony and misdemeanor courts have continued to suspend all in-person court dockets for individuals who are on bond.  It is still unknown when in-person dockets will resume.  With it constantly changing, please check to see whether your court setting is an in-person or virtual Zoom hearing (some courts are even allowing for call-in or attorney appearances during this time period).  With limited exception, all jury trials and in-person hearings remain suspended (the Texas Supreme Court has extended a previous Emergency Order limiting jury trials and in-person hearings from December 1, 2020 to February 1, 2021, and now to April 1, 2021).  Note: a few courts are working on getting approval to conduct jury trials with approved COVID-19 protocols.
